Start this 8 day adventure in the cosmopolitan city of Santiago before heading north to the otherworldly and captivating landscape of the famous Atacama Desert, home to some of the best stargazing on earth! You will then make your way south to the lakes district for the main event, the Solar Eclipse. Explore the imposing volcanoes, azure waterfalls and postcard perfect scenery the region boasts, the perfect finish to an unforgettable adventure.

On arrival at Santiago airport you will be met by our representative and transferred to your centrally located hotel.
During your city tour we explore the historical and modern sights of Santiago de Chile. We start our trip at the main avenue Alameda Bernardo O’Higgins by visiting La Moneda, the Government Palace, where we will learn about the historical and current importance of this place. Next enjoy a walk through the pedestrian streets of Huérfanos and Ahumada, where the main commercial activity of the city is concentrated. Afterwards, we will visit the famous main square of the city called Plaza de Armas, which is surrounded by the Metropolitan Cathedral and other historical buildings.
Continue to Santa Lucia Hill, the mount upon which the Spanish founded Santiago in 1541. It is a lone steep rock, with many plants and an antique building rising steeply from the city below. Then, we will cross the Mapocho River to get to Bellavista, the cultural and artistic neighborhood of Santiago. Bellavista lies at the foot of the San Cristóbal Hill, the highest in town, in the middle of the Metropolitan Park.We will go up the hill to explore the surroundings while enjoying beautiful panoramic views of the city. Finally, we will visit Providencia with its top restaurants, elegant shops and modern high-rise buildings.
After this amazing tour we will call it a day and return to the hotel. The rest of the day is at your leisure.
At the scheduled time today you will be met at your hotel and transfer to the airport for your flight to Calama.
Upon arrival you will be transported to the town of San Pedro de Atacama. This colourful village is located 2,440 m / 8,000 ft above sea level in the middle of a green oasis.
Later that day, in the afternoon we will adventure out to the mystifying Death & Moon valleys boasting incredible stone and sand formations. At sunset, we will have the opportunity to view the beautiful fading light over these vast landscapes.
After breakfast we will explore the town of San Pedro de Atacama – the center of a Paleolithic civilization that built impressive rock fortresses on the nearby mountains encircling the green valley. From there we will take brief drive to reach the 3000 year old pre-Columbian village of Tulor. The archaeological remains that can be viewed here constitute the oldest evidence of human settlement of the valley. After our visit we will then continue the morning tour to the Pukara de Quitor a fortress, which has seen many battles.
In the afternoon we will visit Toconao; a village where white volcanic stone sculptures are made by locals. Afterwards we will continue on to the Atacama Salt Lake; an inland sea formed millions of years ago and an impressive sight dominated by rock formations and crystalized salt.
The Atacama Desert is internationally renowned for its astrological observations thanks to its clear skies and low humidity. This evening's excursion will take us on a 2 - 3 hour tour of the beautiful stars and planets above. The evening will start when we are picked up at our hotel and travel to a different location that has been handpicked due to its astronomical viewpoint. There, in the open-air, with the use of tripod telescopes we will be able to observe the night sky and discover a variety of constellations and planets while enjoying a lovely aperitif. This is an “out of the world” experience!
Please note: This excursion is about naked eye astronomy, additionally open-air refractor telescopes will be used.

Before sunrise we will depart from San Pedro and head north to the famous El Tatio Geysers; a geothermal field flanked by soaring peaks. El Tatio is situated at 4,300 m / 14,108 ft above sea level on the Altiplano. It is the highest geothermal field in the world and boasts spectacular scenery. Be sure to bring warm clothes as temperatures at this altitude are considerably low this early in the morning. At dawn we will observe powerful spurts of steam that shoot out from various geyser blowholes and steaming ponds that are encrusted with brilliant salt crystals reflecting the metal-blue sky. After this visit to El Tatio we will drive to the village of Machuca known as the resting place for llama caravans that travelled the Inca Highway. Afterwards we will return to San Pedro de Atacama to enjoy the afternoon at leisure.
Following breakfast at your hotel you will be transferred back to Calama airport for your flight to Temuco (Pucon). Upon arrival you will be transferred to your accommodation where you can spend the remainder of the day at leisure.
Today we will witness the total solar eclipse that will take place at approximately 13:00 hrs. The viewing site is located a 10 minute walk from the Landhaus Hotel. It is set on a hill, providing a clear view of the sky, with only small trees and no buildings in sight, for maximum visibility of the eclipse. It is a closed location, the property belongs to the hotel, so access is limited to the hotel gusts. During this time, you will also be treated to a delicious barbeque lunch prepared with local ingredients.

Today's excursion begins after breakfast as you drive an hour out of Pucon to the Villarrica Natioanl Park. From here you will head out on an 8km trek over an amazing path filled with the wonders of this region. During this medium-difficult walk, you will find volcanic rocks, local vegetation and colourful forests that are cure to captivate. In addition,m if you are lucky, you may also spot several birds that will accompany you with their melodic sounds. Furthermore, you will take in outstanding views of pristine lakes, large craters and the Villarrica, Llaima and Nevados de Sollipulli volcanoes. Last but certainly not least, you will visit volcanic caves full of evident history from the last eruption. From there you will return to the starting point where you will be transported back to your accommodation in Pucon.
Today marks the final day of your tour as you are met at your hotel following breakfast and transferred back to Temuco airport for your departure flight.
