Day 2: Island Explorations
Today explore the sandy shores of Rarotonga via the 32km ring road which connects the island. You can opt to take the local bus around the island, hire a motor scooter or bike and stop at your choice of stunning deserted beaches which surround the island.
This evening head to the Muri Night Market for local cheap eats and good vibes. Open Sunday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings from 5pm, the night markets offer a variety of delicious food from local BBQ meals, seafood, fresh drinking coconuts, chicken curries, wok fried noodles, pizza, desserts and more.
Day 3: Cross Island Trek
After a leisurely breakfast you will be picked up by your guide Pa for the challenging Cross Island Trek (Te Rua Manga) through lush tree covered jungle, which crosses the interior of the island taking approx. 3 hours.
After your trek return to your resort for a relaxing afternoon by the beach and a well earned cocktail, before enjoying a traditional Island Night dinner at your hotel. Hike can also be done independently.
Day 4: Local markets
Today get a dose of island culture at the Saturday markets, a must do activity in Rarotonga. The Punanga Nui Market in Avarua, Rarotonga's main town, offers free entertainment, fresh food stalls, organic coffee, and authentic souvenirs like pearls, artwork, crafts and hats made of coconut frond. While the market is open until midday, early Saturday morning is the best time to go for locally grown fruits and vegetables as well as homemade treats like poke. Also make sure to head over to the main stage from about 10am to enjoy live music and dancing.
