New Machu Picchu Regulations for 2019

New entrance regulations for Machu Picchu will come into effect on 1 January 2019, with details to be released in the next few days. It is expected the new regulations will further restrict visitors, with specific entry times booked and visit times shortened to 3hrs maximum.

Local authorities first introduced restrictions regulating the number of visitors to the historic site at any one time in July 2017. Visitors are currently able to visit for 4hrs maximum within a morning (0600 – 1200) or afternoon (1200 – 1630) session. Visitors must also be accompanied by an officially licenced guide on their first visit but may be readmitted upon a second purchased visit without a guide if they retain previous entry tickets.
